The great thing about the progressing world of conventions is that there is a convention for almost every demographic. Originally starting off with Comic Books and Nerd Culture, slowly branching off into pop-culture conventions of all varieties. In November of 2018, in beautiful Burbank, California, was held the first true and honest Hentai Convention. A convention solely dedicated to the art-house of adult fantasy, abstract pleasures, and the comics and animations of pornographic and sexual imagery. Suffice to say, the turnout was full of positive and passionate people with imaginations far and above what the human mind could ever imagine.
The Hentai Convention as a whole did not stray away from its intentions, the exhibit halls were filled with booths selling content after content of adult works. The panels were tailored to the creation of comics, films, and animations of adult works. The Dubbing of Hentai was constantly filled with both men and women, and all workshops of the different kinks and tastes that people had were all scheduled throughout the event.
There are obviously some highlights, the first one being SoCal's very own Kiss Pink Maid Cafe, hosting their own show filled with Part Games, Risque Pandemonium, and the auctioning of women, all began the convention with a fun night of high-jinks and enjoyment.
Some of the panels even had people who flew in from Japan who had indeed themselves worked on many adult films and animations, and the information given was actually very respectable. Many questions were answered, and the filmmakers who came showed both a great respect for the art-form they work in, as well as talk about some of the difficulties that go into making such films.
The real star of the show though was definitely the Exhibition Hall, mostly because of the content being sold and the limitability of the content. From Comics, to DVDs and Blu-Rays, to Artwork and Magazines, to T-Shirts and Shoes, there was a surprising amount of both licensed products and self-made accessories that would fill any attendees bags. As well, many people working behind the booths were very ecstatic that a convention like Hentai Convention could be held because the Booth Vendors themselves were also Customers of the Booths next door. "An event like this does not happen that often, so it is always great to grab stuff when you can." - Hentai Convention Attendee
At the end of the day, it was clear that the people there were having fun, and that is really all that matters. The Head Consultants of Hentai Convention have yet to announce if 2019 will hold the next Hentai Convention, but a consistently growing audience of people who would love to make this an annual thing.
