Capcom's Return to Glory - E3 2018

Capcom has always been a fan favorite company, with every generation offering something new or interesting. Whether it was Mega Man on the Nintendo Entertainment System, Street Fighter 2 on the Super Nintendo and SEGA Genesis, Resident Evil on the Sony Playstation, or Okami on the Sony Playstation 2. In recent years, Capcom has had its moments of glory, with Dead Rising on the Xbox 360, and Monster Hunter World being a smash hit on PS4 and Xbox One, selling more than 8 Million Units (At the Time of this Writing). However, the company has stayed quiet in recent years as to what their big projects were, and fans have been anticipating for years what they have up their sleeves.

This E3, Capcom came and blasted the doors, showing that they are one of the greatest video game companies for a reason. Mega Man 11 was announced a couple of months ago, but Capcom has brought a fully-playable version, and not only does it look great, it sounds and play great too! Whether or not it will be the best in the series is irrelevent because the fact that there is a new Mega Man game, when Mega Man 10 came ou on March 1st, 2010, is more than enough. Thankfully, the team behind it has a lot of passion for the franchise, and Mega Man 11 will be a game that anyone can pick up and enjoy, but it is a little more special for those who have been with the franchise since the first Mega Man game when it came out in 1987. Mega Man 11 will be released on October 2nd, 2018 for PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Windows PC.

Devil May Cry 5, while not playable on the show-floor, had a World Premiere Announcement Trailer at the Microsoft Press Conference on June 10th, 2018, and it came out blasting Heavy-Punk Rock Music, demons that are bigger than ever, and a robot arm that creates electric stuns and pulses. In the trailer, Nero is seen riding his flying Rocket Arm, clearly pointing out that the series wants to have as much fun as it can. While on Stage, Hideaki Itsuno said specifically that "This was a Devil May Cry game made for the fans!" The Devil May Cry series has definitely had its bumps in the roads, with Devil May Cry 4 releasing 10 years ago in 2008. That being said, everyone loves Demons, Swords, Robot Arms, and Sexy Women, so this will definitely be a tittle that everyone can look forward to! As well, while the gameplay showed was of Nero, the developers have heavily hinted that Dante and another character will be very much deep in the game of both the story and gameplay. While no release date has been announced, Devil May Cry 5 is looking towards a Spring 2019 release date for PS4, Xbox One, and Windows PC.

The star of the show was Resident Evil 2 Remake, a game that has been in development hell for almost a decade, yet somehow looks like the greatest Survival Horror game of this generation. One of the biggest requests is to remake Resident Evil 2 in the style of Resident Evil 4, and while one could argue that they did that, another person could argue they did it better. Not only does the game still have its Dark Horro, but the gameplay has been heavily refocused to keep the player constantly on their toes. A lot of influence was clearly taken from games like Resident Evil 7 and Dead Space. Screenshots are not enough to compare because, once you actually play the game, that is when you realize how much of a jump from the Playstation 1 to the Playstation 4 we have finally reached. Resident Evil 2 Remake will be released on January 25th, 2019 for PS4, Xbox One, and Windows PC.

That being said, if this is how good things are now, how much better will things be next year? From this point on, the only direction you can go is up! Capcom has only showed us what they have in story for Early 2019, and suffice to say, if you are a Capcom Fan, you will have a lot to play to hold you over.
